  1. Use software analyser on CD or visit The Learning Federation website http://www.thelearningfederation.edu.au to check computer if Objects Launch correctly

SmartBoard Interactive Whiteboard

This is an exciting and valuable asset for the school. (See Richardson PS (ACT) Review for examples of SmartBoard use in the classroom.)

Requirements

  1. SmartBoard software – freely downloadable from Smart Technologies ( http://www.smarttech.com/ ), or CD ROM – 172 Mb
  2. Use data projector (XGA) – preferably roof mounted
  3. Don’t bump the stand as the mouse goes out of alignment (reorientate if you bump it)
  4. Use finger or SmartBoard pens only – all SmartBoard pens must stay on stand if using fingers as mouse or use only one SmartBoard pen at a time when using as pens.
  5. It is not a normal whiteboard. Use only SmartBoard pens – do not lose SmartBoard pens.

Intel Teach to the Future

This is heavily funded by the CeLL initiative. Contact Ian Clough

  1. Teachers attend a 40-hour course; receive an extensive manual and CD.
  2. Each teacher will complete a Unit Portfolio of:
    1. A Unit Plan aligned to VELS including implementation and classroom management
    2. Handouts, templates, or tests to support the Unit
    3. Student Samples:

1.      A student multimedia presentation

2.      A student publication (newsletter or brochure)

3.      A student Web site

    1. Evaluation tools:

1.      A multimedia student evaluation

2.      A publication student evaluation

3.      A Web site student evaluation

    1. A teacher presentation, newsletter, brochure or Web site to support the Unit
    2. Works Cited document

New hardware purchases

  1. Epson EMP81 multimedia projector including roof mounting brackets.
  2. Sony digital DVD video camera and stand – DVDRW – 30 minutes = 1.4Gb of memory = 1000 floppy disks or 400 songs
  3. Rollei digital cameras – remember to use AC adaptor to download photos otherwise you will drain batteries very quick.
  4. Kyocera/Minolta Color Printer – honesty system appears to be working well – remember your budget at end of Term
  5. USB removable hard drives-A great alternative to backup data. Store from 200Gb or more. Prices start from approximately $200 for 200Gb - e.g. Maxtor
  6. Plextor video converter connects to computer via USB 2.0 and allows conversion of VHS and DVD to CD or DVD disks
  7. OpdiTrakka CD/DVD storage system - stores up to 200 CDS/DVDs, connects via USB 2.0 and allows cataloguing of disks and retrieval of disks.
  8. Tuffy Presentation trolley - with BenQ data projector, Pro2 stereo mixer, JVC micro system, microphone and stand, VHS/DVD player and room for Notebook computer. Includes power and network connection
