A CHALLENGE

Your challenge, should you decide to accept, is to construct a vehicle to travel a set distance.

PROJECT TIMELINE 

That distance will be revealed on November 26th, 1999, by returning to this website. The distance can be anywhere between 1 metre and 10 metres!

The winner(s) will be decided by the vehicle that finishes closest to the secret distance. It is expected that you will produce a car that is capable of traveling a set distance anywhere from 1 metre to 10 metres.

For example, if you are using the ramp method the greater the angle on the ramp the further the car will travel. Settings will be kept as to what angle is needed for the car to travel 1 metre, what angle for 2 metres, etc., etc.

On the day when the distance is revealed you will need to set your ramp at that predetermined angle to allow your car to travel that distance.

WHAT POWER SOURCE CAN I USE?

Your vehicle can be powered by any of the following four power sources

• elastic bands
• balloons
• motor (Lego or meagre motors)
• gravity (ramps)

WHAT SORT OF CAR CAN I BUILD?

There will be two divisions of vehicles:

• cars made from commercially available material such as Lego, Capsela, Meccano, etc.
• cars made from recycled goods such as boxes, cardboard, balsa wood, etc.
