Happy Planning for 1999!
My name is Muriel Wells and I am a Victorian teacher.
I run an internet project called The Teddy Bear Project. I match classes with another class in a different country. The classes swap bear, photos and some local mementos. The bear is airmailed to the class whose details I give you. The bear then writes back a diary via email. A hard copy diary is also kept to return with the bear.
I registered the project with IECC projects and now have an abundance of US schools waiting for classes - most of those waiting are primary classes.
So if know anyone would like to join the project then ask them to send me their :-
This is a voluntary run project.

The SERCT Centre has launched a new interactive collaborative project for the International Year of the Ocean and Heritage week. The project is the Victorian Shipwrecks Database On line.
They have taken the Shipwrecks of Victoria database and converted the file to a FileMaker document which can be accessed on line. A question based on the Shipwrecks records will be posed each month and participating schools will mail their answers back using the 'Old Salts Mailbox' The winning school will be announced at the end of each month and another question will be added.
To complement the database we have an on line Chat room along with soon to be activated pages for students to send stories, slideshows, music files and any other electronically transmitted documentation about shipwrecks and the life of sailors in the last century.
For teachers there is a large list of teaching suggestions and ideas along with CSF links.
The site is http://www.serct.vic.edu.au/shipwrek/shipwrek.htm
Please visit and sign our guestbook. There is also a form available if you want your school to participate in the project.
