Year 5 and 6 learn about Government as part of our study of Civics and Citizenship
Year 5 enjoy visit form local Victorian Member of Parliament Mr Hugh Delahunty, Member of the Legislative Assembly, to speak about Government and his role as our local Member for Lowan.

This is Year 5 busy at work in our newly painted rooms. Its really light and easy to work in. We have Sunnyside Oval just outside our door.
Our school is an open plan school so we often share a room with other classes. This means we have to try to work quietly so that we dont disturb them. It is good to share, though, as we get to work with more kids and make lots of friends. We also have two teachers to help us.
We have plenty of areas to play games including a cricket pitch, football oval, junior and senior adventure playgrounds, netball and basketball courts, sandpits, rebound walls, volleyball area and our SunSmart shade houses to play and sit under. To keep us fit we can run the fitness track.
We go to other teachers for Science and Technology, Physical Education, Italian and Music. We go to the Library with our class teachers and we can use our computers in our room, the newly developed computer laboratory or the notebook computers to develop our ICT skills.
WaterWatch and the Environment

Year 5 students participated in the local environmental Kids Conference at the Longerenong Field Days site. Here we learn about the Wimmera Catchment. This year we have collected water samples from three sites including the natural broke tree island, stormwater drain and Menadue Street river beautification site.
The recent drought means we need to take turns watering parts of our gardens in the school. Because of the water restrictions in 2007 we can now only use buckets to water all of our school gardens.
