At Horsham Primary School, all students participate in Auslan (Australian Sign Language) lessons as part of our commitment to building an inclusive and respectful learning community. Auslan is the official language of the Australian Deaf community and provides students with a valuable opportunity to learn about communication, language, and culture in a meaningful way.
Through fun, engaging lessons, students develop their signing vocabulary, learn to communicate using gestures and expressions, and gain an appreciation for diverse ways of communicating. Lessons also support the development of visual attention, memory, and fine motor skills.
Auslan is taught by passionate educators who aim to make learning accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for all students, helping to foster empathy, awareness, and respect for others.
